This film tells the story of the origin of the Bamun king´s throne - now at home in the Museum of Ethnology in Berlin - which was presented one hundred years ago to the German Kaiser as a gift and symbol of power from the Emperor of the Bamun. „Mandu Yedu“ portrays the encounter of a black king with Europeans. The film also reveals a portrait of high, pre-colonial Bamun culture, in contrast with the high-handed attitude of the German „master“ race.
